Mixed Media Medley: Workshop
3 special creative days, 10 AM - 2:30 PM or later
Saturday Sept 3 thru Monday, September 5, 2011

If you are an artist...or an aspiring artist...these 3 days in my studio are designed just for you!
You'll learn everything you want to know about mixed media. You'll learn new techniques & how to combine techniques you may already know. You'll rejuvenate your creative spirit and have lots of creative FUN. You'll leave with the secure knowledge that you are an accomplished artist. Your confidence will come from experiencing the creative process and learning to connect with your creative spirit. You'll bask in the glorious lighting, floating on the peaceful, inspiring music.

If you are a beginner, these 3 days will fill you with inspiration, techniques AND confidence.

If you are an experienced painter, these 3 days of intense creativity will inspire you, rejuvenate your creative spirit and advance you to new levels of artistic accomplishment.

I'll provide all supplies. Or you can bring what you like to use and experiment with mine.

If you are traveling Houston, you don't need to bring supplies. I provide everything!

I'll share acrylic paint, paper, colored pencils, oil pastels, at least 10 different brands of watersoluble drawing media, acrylics & mediums, various exotic papers for collage and hand-carved stamps to play with. My supplies are a mixed-media artist's dream.

I'll show you how to make your own stencils & stamps.

I'll help you put it all together...if you want help...but I WON'T paint on your painting. The work you create will be 100% yours.

If your question is about HOW to do something (the technical part), I'll provide the answer you need.

If your question is about CHOICE...where to place something, which choice is better, or if something is bothering you about the way it looks...I'll guide you in the process I use to discover my answers. At most, if you still want an answer from me, I'll give you my "opinion" & why I feel that way. Your question becomes a very important learning experience.

You might be surprised to discover that when you are working in my glorious light-filled space, with the music and the inspiring array of images, papers & supplies, that you "know" what to do. This knowledge is supported by the fact that I am there if you need answers or help.

If this art experience is speaking to your soul, I encourage you to listen.

This creative retreat might be just what you crave.

Join me for these 3 days of creative play.

I will demonstrate at the beginning of each day. I'll answer questions & provide help as needed.

You'll paint, experiment & learn.

I've designed these days for instruction to end by 2:30,
so that if you have other obligations or want to drive home early,
you can leave then, knowing that you will not miss any part of the class.

If you want to stay and paint until 5,
I'll be delighted to have you stay. I'll be there.
AND I'll be happy to answer any questions you have as you continue to work.

Saturday, Sunday & Monday, September 3 - 5, 2011, 10:30 AM til...We can stay as late as 5 on any or all of the days. Since it's a holiday weekend, I don't think traffic will get heavy.  (If you want Sunday morning for religious services, know that I've planned Sunday for painting and for extra individual help from me. You won't miss a demonstration.)

Workshop: For all levels from beginner to advanced.

Instructor: ANN BELL                281-330-3827

Where: Ann’s Studio at 2711 Main St. in Midtown Houston, on the Metro line at McGowen station.

  • Small class…5 student maximum.

Learn to make beautiful mixed-media paintings using materials you might have always wanted to try.
If you have supplies you want to learn how to use, I'll will help you use them.

Or play with mine. I have everything you could imagine. I even have the new Inktense Colored Pencils!

In this small class you'll learn how to design beautiful pieces of art by playing with the materials.

You'll see with fresh eyes, create with new materials, and stretch your boundaries.

You'll be surprised at what you can do. And you'll have so much fun.

BREAK OUT OF THE MOLD. Try totally new materials & techniques. Explore oil pastels, colored pencils & water-soluble drawing media.

Whether you are an experienced painter or a beginner, you will have FUN and LEARN.
You'll leave with a bag of NEW tricks for your creative play.

I design my classes to be fun and suitable and useful for both beginners and advanced artists.

How can this be?

Classes are fun to both because everyone is inspired to create with new ideas and new supplies.

Classes are useful to both because everyone will learn some new techniques and/or applications.

Each person works at her own speed, confident that she can get questions answered as they occur to her.

Classes are suitable for beginners because I demonstrate and explain simple steps.

Classes are suitable for more advanced painters

  • Because I share all of my supplies. Some may be new to you.
  • Because working in a new environment interrupts old patterns.
  • Because you will find your own way of interpreting what you learn.
  • Because your soul will thank you for a new dose of artistic inspiration.

Regardless of your level of art experience, I hope you will treat yourself to a class with me in my glorious light-filled studio.

I'll share my techniques: You'll learn, by actually doing, with my help whenever you want it.

Step-by-step demonstration & explanation will get you started.

Then you'll paint, with lots of individual attention from me...IF you want it.

I'll share my wondrous, light-filled studio, the music that inspires me, my supplies, and my stash of collage & paper treasures.

I make this so simple that you'll have fun and you'll create a beautiful piece of art, even if you have never painted before..

Demonstrations will be first, so if you can’t stay the entire day, you will still learn the process.

  • Bring a lunch. I have cold bottled water for everyone & refrigerator to keep lunches cold.

  • Only $650. for all 3 days, including access to my supplies.

  • I'll supply paper for you to paint on. If you prefer to paint on canvas, bring your own, or you can purchase one in the store when you arrive.

  • You may bring your favorite colors, palette & brushes. Or you can use mine.

  • If you prefer to paint with watercolor, bring yours & your brushes. If you decide to add collage, you can use my brushes & mediums. You won't need to use your good watercolor brushes in the acrylics. Contrary to popular belief, you CAN do collage on watercolors. I'll share the secrets for making it work.

  • If you have supplies you depend on, feel free to bring those. You don't need to buy anything. And you don't need to bring anything. I provide everything.

  • I provide a wide variety of acrylic colors & metallics.

For only $650, you'll have 3 days of fun and a creative learning experience.
If you haven't taken a workshop before, you may not realize that buying all the supplies on an instructor's list can easily cost over $100. You do not need to buy any supplies to take this workshop. Everything is included.
