Business of Art Package
The Business of Art: Solid Business Knowledge for Artists
I provided this book to students in my recent classes. Updated in 2011, it covers the basics you will want to implement to turn your expensive art hobby into a profitable art business.
The minute you begin selling your art, or trying to sell it, you are in business. Artists are creative, but not interested in business and not trained in business. This book will give you many easy ways to improve your success. You may already be using some of them. If not, they are so simple that you can begin doing them immediately.
You probably will not do all of them, but if you do ANY, you increase your chance of success. And if your goals don’t include selling, but you want to get your art seen for any reason, this book will help.
Pick the action steps that feel comfortable and begin to take action.

18 More Ways to Get Your Art Visible and Your Own Creative Juices Flowing About Building Your Creative Business (page 31)
This book gives you over 100 ways to take action. (I counted 122 by the numbers I listed. And some of them I didn’t quantify.)
Don’t worry. You don’t have to do all of them. Just pick the ones that feel easy and fun to you. MOST of them are free.
Each step that you take will put you one step ahead of the artists that sit in their studios, hoping the art will sell itself. News: the art can’t sell itself it no one sees it.
If you decide that you don’t want to take any steps, at least you can stop fretting that your art isn’t selling. You’ll understand that you made the choice not to take the steps that could produce sales.
If you decide to move forward and take action to get this book and the information it contains, you’ll be delighted to know that as you begin to take action, you’ll see other steps you can take. You’ll recognize opportunities…and you’ll begin to think about which “opportunities” might serve you and your art and which ones are likely to produce no results.

Pricing for Artists Package
How to Price Your Art for Profit:
This book explains all the costs involved in producing your creative work, including direct (obvious) costs and indirect costs. Indirect costs are those expenditures necessary for you to produce your art whether or not you ever sell anything, and even if you are not trying to sell your art. If you are not trying to sell, then these are just the costs of your hobby. If you start trying to sell, they become the cost of being in business, even if your business never sells anything. You may be unaware of most of them. This book will explain clearly, so you will understand. I also include a formula and instructions for setting up a spreadsheet, if you decide to get serious. Only 36 pages plus the formula.
