Fabric Painting Workshop:
Friday, August 1, 10 AM - 2:30 PM

If you are an artist...or an aspiring artist...wanting to learn how to paint on fabrics,
this day in my studio is designed just for you!
You'll learn new techniques, rejuvenate your creative spirit and have lots of creative FUN.

You can register online with PayPal. Use the Register button at the bottom of this page.

I'll provide all supplies. This class will be small, so I can provide individual help.
You will have your own table to work on. No shared tables in my classes.
We will be working with water-soluble paint, NOT with dyes!

I'll share acrylic paint, cotton fabric, brushes, pens, crayons, pencils & other tools.
You'll learn easy ways of applying paint to fabric.
If you have a garment you would like to paint, feel free to bring it.
(New or old, it should be washed. New fabric has sizing that prevents paint from sinking in.)

If you already know how to paint, the skills you already have can be used to paint on fabric.
This class will provide the specific info you probably don't have.

If you don't know how to paint, you'll learn how to use paint to put simple designs on fabric.

I'll teach you how to paint simple designs directly on fabric
AND how to use stencils to make designs on fabric.
I'll teach you how to make your own stencils. You can also stencils you purchase.

I'll teach you how to what to use to keep the fabric soft where you paint.
This is important for painting on clothing & bed linens...
less important for pillows & curtains.

After this class,
you'll be able to put your custom design on clothing & on fabrics for your home decor.
you'll know how to customize inexpensive sheets, curtains & pillows to make a co-ordinated room.
you'll be able to personalize clothing & other fabric items for the children in your life.

Imagine how thrilled a child you love will be to have pajamas with a favorite storybook character on them!

You'll learn how in this one-day class. You can try fabric painting without buying more supplies.

And even if you've never painted before, this class will ease you into the painting process.

Another bonus benefit is that the techniques you learn can be applied to fine art painting and to crafts.

You'll learn my easy ways to transfer your drawing to your painting surface.

If this class is calling to you, you can reserve your spot
by clicking on the Register Now button below (near the bottom of this page) and checking out through PayPal.

Shirt1WORDSWeb.JPG (36792 bytes)

I used a variety of drawing tools, such as crayons, brushes, pens
for most of this shirt. I used a brush & acrylic paint for the bird's body.

I'll provide all of these tools for you to use.

I'll tell you the advantages of each.

You can try any or all of them.

You can make a finished design OR
you can make a sampler. I made this shirt as a sampler.
If you look clasely, you will see some small writing around the words...
the small writing is my notes about what I used to write that word.

Approach this class in a spirit of fun. You'll feel like a real artist, painting with me in my gloriously-lighted studio with the music playing.

Bring an oversize, white or light-colored COTTON shirt to paint.

If it is new, please wash it to remove sizing.

Wear it nightly for creative dreams!

I had a marvelous time creating this shirt.

I just LOVE it! I think my joy shows. So will yours!

I have plenty of references for you to use.

Or you can just doodle & play with the paint.
(That's what I did. I began this shirt as a demonstration,
working with purple paint.)

I made some random strokes, just to show how to do it.

When my students were painting on their projects,
I began to play on my shirt.
The purple stroke across the upper left flower is an
unplanned stroke from the initial demo.
It won't diminish my joy in wearing the shirt.
You'll learn to transfer a drawing or photo,

We'll focus on keeping it simple
and letting the paint work its magic.

You'll leave with your own masterpiece.

I'm excited to teach this class!

We are going to have SO MUCH FUN!

Will YOU join me?

If you are a beginning painter...
or you don't have any ideas...I'll help you.

Once you start, you'll get so involved that you'll be in creative flow.
If you need help, I'll be there to provide it for you,

Join me for a day of creative play. I will demonstrate at the beginning.
I'll answer questions & provide help as needed. You'll paint, experiment & learn.

Whether you are an experienced painter or a beginner,

Regardless of your level of art experience,
you will enjoy a day painting with me in my glorious light-filled studio.

I'll share my techniques: You'll learn, by actually doing:

Step-by-step demonstration & explanation will get you started.

Then you'll paint, with lots of individual attention from me...IF you want it.

I'll share my wondrous, light-filled studio, the music that inspires me, and my supplies.

I make this so simple that you'll have fun and you'll learn how to paint on fabric,
even if you've never painted before.

Demonstrations  will be first, so if you can’t stay the entire day, you will still learn the process.

  • Bring lunch or a snack. I'll have cold bottled water for everyone.

  • Only $85. for the day, including access to my supplies.

  • I'll provide plain white fabric for you to paint on.
Or you can bring something light-colored, cotton & laundered to remove sizing.
It doesn't have to be new.

  • I provide a wide variety of acrylic colors, brushes, pencils, pens, crayons, stencils & more.
    Acrylics are fast-drying, non-toxic & odor-free.

  • I think if you actually do what I show you how to do, you will remember it better.
I encourage you to try the different materials.
I'm happy to help you if you want help during the day.

You are welcome to bring a laundered shirt to work on.
It can be new OR old. It can even have stains on it.

I like for new clothing...OR any item that will be washed...
to be washed before painting to remove the sizing.
Sizing prevents paint from penetrating the fabric completely,
making the painting less durable...more likely to wash out sooner.

For only $85, you'll have a day of fun and a creative learning experience.
And you'll leave with a piece of wearable art created ENTIRELY by you.
Or if you don't bring a garment, you'll leave with a painted panel
to use on a garment of your choice.
