   "Beside the Singing River"

Back     Next

This original painting is in a Private Collection.

"Beside the Singing River" was inspired by a place so beautiful that I was moved to write a poem. Later I created this painting from my memory.

The place was so remote that the only sounds I could hear were the birds and the singing of th river as it tumbled over the rocks.

A few years later, while traveling in the same area, I attempted to find it again, but I was unable to do so.

I used watercolor to create this painting. Before I began to paint, I collaged several different kinds of rice papers and mulberry papers onto my watercolor paper. The wonderful textures you see in the painting come from these papers.
